Air quality in Bangkok, and its two neighbouring provinces of Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon, has worsened today (Sunday), with the level of PM2.5 dust particles ranging from 37 to 67 micrograms/cubic metre.
The Pollution Control Department said today that PM2.5 dust particles exceeded 50 micrograms/cubic metre in Bangkok’s 11 districts, compared to just six districts the previous day.
The affected districts are Pathumwan, Sathorn, Bang Khor Laem, Yan Nawa, Khlong San, Phasi Charoen, Bang Sue, Laksi, Bang Khen, Bang Phlad and Bang Khun Thien.
Muang and Phra Pradaeng districts of Samut Prakan and Muang and Krathum Ban districts of Samut Sakhon also recorded higher than 50 micrograms/cubic metre.
Uncirculated air and a weakening low pressure cell from China were blamed for the accumulation of fine dust particles in the atmosphere.
The Pollution Control Department is again advising children, pregnant women, the elderly and ailing people to avoid out-door activities and to wear face masks when outdoors.
