Floodings as a result of tropical storm “Son-tinh” which has weakened to a low pressure cell still wreak havoc in three provinces — Kanchanaburi, Phichit and Nakhon Sawan, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department director-general Chayapol Thitisak said today.
Mr Chayapol said during July 17-21 the storm caused flash floods and landslides in 11 provinces — Phichit, Nakhon Sawan, Trat, Phrae, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Tak, Ranong, Kanchanaburi and Phetchaburi — affecting 1,909 households with 5,774 people in 67 villages.
The situation has eased in eight provinces, except Kanchanaburi, Phichit and Nakhon Sawan.
In Kanchanaburi, flash floods hit Tambons Nong Lu and Laiwo in Sangkhla Buri district, affecting about 100 households of 400 people. The floodwater is believed to have damaged 300 rai of farmland.
In Phichit, flooding still prevails in Tambon Thap Khlo of Thap Khlo district, afecting 61 households with 199 people. The water is receding constantly.
In Nakhon Sawan, the Huay Yai reservoir in Tambon Ta Khro has overflowed to flood about 80 rai of farmland in Paisali district.
