Members of the public who give information to officials leading to seizure of narcotic drugs will be eligible to financial rewards, according to an announcement of the Justice Ministry published in the Royal Gazette on Friday.
The amount of financial rewards to be paid to the informants vary in accordance with the types of narcotics and the amounts seized by officials.

The rewards are as follows:  two baht for a meth pill; 100 baht for a gramme of heroin; 20 baht for a gramme of morphine; 20 baht for a gramme of cocaine, 10 baht for a gramme of K-tamine; 0.10 baht for a gramme of marijuana and 20 baht for a gramme of marijuana oil or sticky resin.

The maximum amount of reward payable to an informant in each case, however, will not exceed two million baht.

Officials hope the offer of rewards will provide an incentive for the general public to be part of the efforts to combat drug trafficking.
