The Criminal Court withdrew the bail granted to human rights lawyer Anon Nampa today (Thursday), for violating bail conditions by addressing protest rallies in a manner which may cause public unrest.

The Court did not revoke Anon’s right to request bail again if he wishes.

The Court did not, however, withdraw the bail granted to another protest leader, Panupong Jaadnok, alias Mike Rayong, as requested by the police, but did demand an increased bail bond.

The Court took into consideration Panupong’s age and career and wanted to give him a chance to turn over a new leaf and set bail at 200,000 baht, increased from 100,000 baht.

Panupong, a leader of the Free People movement in Thailand’seastern province of Rayong, rejected the Court’s demand for additional bail and agreed to be held in detention with Anon.

Both were later escorted to Bangkok Special Prison.
