Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) announced they are confirming all 400 constituency MPs and 100 party-list MPs this afternoon (Monday), and that they can collect their certificates from tomorrow until June 24th.

Speaking at the press conference, however, EC Secretary General Sawaeng Boonmee said that the commission still has the authority to investigate if there is any evidence that an MP was elected in bad faith. The EC can file a petition with the Supreme Court to revoke result and order a new election, which has to be completed within one year of the May 14th original election.

The EC has certified the results because any ongoing investigations cannot be completed within 60 days and they have to be fair to all sides and go through all the submitted documents, Sawaeng added.

He also said that there were 31,522,698 valid votes for the party-list candidates, with a ratio of 375,226 per MP, so there are a total of 17 parties which are elected to parliament through the party-list system.

The Move Forward Party gained the most party-list MPs (39), followed by Pheu Thai (29), United Thai Nation (13), Democrats and Bhumjaithai Party (3 each), Prachachat Party (2). Another 11 parties have one each. They are Thai Teachers for the People, Chart Thai Pattana, Chart Pattana Kla, The Party of Thai Counties, Thai Sang Thai, New Democracy, Fair, Plung Sungkom Mai, Thai Liberal (Seree Ruam Thai) and the New Party.
