Hamas have released three more Thais, bringing to 17 the number of Thai nationals freed since they were taken hostage during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, according to the Thai Foreign Ministry.

Fifteen more Thais are, however, still being held captive.

The latest three hostages to be released are Vichien Temthong, Surin Kesoongnoen and Pornsawan Pinakalo. They were among numerous hostages of various nationalities freed by Hamas at about 11pm on Saturday night (Thailand time).

Medical check-ups show that they are all in good health and they said they are very happy to be released and are expecting to be flown back to Thailand in the next few days.

Deputy Foreign Minister Jakkaphong Sangmanee said that Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara and Supreme Commander, General Songwit Noonpackdee, will fly to Israel to accompany the former hostages back to Thailand.

He also said that there are positive signs that Hamas are working to release their remaining hostages, including 15 more Thais.
