Forty-nine areas of Bangkok have excessive levels of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere, as the Air Quality Information Centre of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration advises everyone to reduce their out-door activities and to wear face masks when they are outside.

The PM2.5 readings in the affected areas, measured in the past 24 hours, range from 37.6µg/m³ in Wachirabenchathat (Rod Fai) Park in Chatuchak district to 59.2µg/m³ in front of Bang Rak Lovely Plaza in Bang Rak district. The safe threshold is 37.5µg/m³.

The nine other areas with the highest levels of PM2.5 are:

  • Seacon Square mall in Prawet district, 55.7µg/m³
  • Bangkok Noi police station in Bangkok Noi district, 54.9µg/m³
  • Samyan Mitrtown in Pathumwan district, 52.3µg/m³
  • Bang Phlat district office, 49.4µg/m³
  • Sanam Luang 2 in Thawee Wattana district, 49.2µg/m³

The high level of air pollution in Bangkok is likely to continue until Wednesday, as air circulation is weak, preventing the dust from dissipating.
