Teachers, social workers, local officials, students and their parents met this morning at Na Dun district office in Maha Sarakham province to discuss an incident in which four female students assaulted one of their peers, who suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and then posted a video clip of the attack on social media.

The incident took place at a high school in Na Dun district, when the ADHD student asked her classmates about her missing eraser, resulting in a heated argument and the eventual assault on the student by her classmates. One of them then posted the clip.

The meeting agreed that the victim should be provided with treatment by social workers, while the parents of the four alleged bullies were told to restrain their children.

According to the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, school violence in Thailand has increased substantially over the past five years, due to improper parental care of children, income disparity between families, social environments that expose children to violence and drug abuse and increased bullying at school and on social media.
