The Thai Journalists Association (TJA) has concluded an internal investigation into an allegation, made by a high-profile lawyer, claiming that a journalists’ association, or its members, had received bribes from an online gambling network.

The investigation found that the TJA did not receive any money from the network, either in the form of donations or other forms of financial support.

Despite receiving confirmation from a team of lawyers, led by Sittra Biabungkerd, that the journalists’ association implicated was not the TJA, it investigated anyway.

Moreover, the TJA has found no journalists’ association registered under the name indicated by Sittra.

Sittra held a press conference yesterday, detailing the groups of people whom, he claimed, received ‘tea money’, in the form of donations and financial support, from online gambling networks.

The TJA has called on Sittra to clearly identify which journalists’ association is involved. Without such specificity, the public may assume that the TJA was the subject of the allegation.

If Sittra fails to do so, the TJA will consider taking legal action.
