Thai police will coordinate with Interpol to issue “red notices” against two South Korean fugitives, currently being held in custody in South Korea and Cambodia, on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a South Korean in Thailand.

Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, who is in charge of the Roh Eui Jong murder case, said today that the Bangkok South Criminal Court had already issued arrest warrants for the three suspects, identified by police as Lee Roh Oun, 25, Lee Yong Jin, 29 and Kim Yong Kwon, 35.

Lee Roh Oun is currently being held in South Korea, while Lee Yong Jin is in custody in Cambodia.  The third suspect, Kim, is still on the run.

Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp said that the two captured fugitives’ testimonies match that of the victim’s wife, who claimed she was told by the third suspect, Kim, that he was responsible for the killing.

He said that the victim was lured to join the three suspects at a pub in the RCA night life zone of Bangkok, where he was drugged. The victim did not fall unconscious, but he was led out of the pub to a car and was subsequently allegedly beaten to death by the suspects.

According to Kim, they tried to administer CPR, but without success. So, they decided to get rid of the body by putting him in a plastic barrel, which was then dumped into the Map Prachan Reservoir in Chon Buri.

Noppasilp said that the police do not buy their story and are now trying to track down Kim.

He also said that the three fugitives had hatched the plot in advance, by renting an apartment in the Rom Klao area, between May 1st and 3rd, and a room in the Map Prachan area in Chon Buri from May 3rd to 10th.
