Park officials set up barrier around a turtle’s nest on the beach of Thien Bay in Bang Saphan district of Prachuap Khiri Khan on Sunday night, where a green sea turtle has laid 129 eggs.

Aekkarit Duangmala, chief of Siam Bay, in Mae Ram Phueng sub-district, said that a green sea turtle came ashore at about 8.30am Sunday night to lay its eggs in a nest about 16 metres from the waterline.

He said park officials carefully checked the turtle, but did not find a microchip. They believe, from a scar found on its shell, that it is the same turtle which came ashore on June 4th, 2020 to lay.

The officials then inserted a microchip, number 900219001878515, into the turtle, before returning it to the sea.

Aekkarit said that this is the second turtle’s nest of the year.
