The police have raided fake Botox production sites in the Nawamin and Lat Phrao areas of Bangkok, seizing over 26,000 items worth a total of 10 million baht.

Pol Lt Col Jirakrit Thongjinda, Deputy Superintendent of the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), revealed that the search warrants for the 2 locations were issued by the Bangkok North Kwaeng Court, as requested by the police, who had gathered the evidence after investigating and following the groups involved online.

The first location was a residence in Nawamin Soi 111. It served as the production site, where the unregistered drugs were mixed with saline solution in non-standard proportions and packaged in medicine bottles. They were then sent to the second location, another residence in Ladprao, and packaged in fake medicine boxes, with labels and stickers, before being delivered to customers.

The police and the officials from the Thai Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) seized more than 26,000 items, including Botulinum toxin type A, or Botox, along with medical equipment, from a network producing unauthorised fake Botox in Bangkok.

It was found that a woman, known as “Ploysai”, was the head of the illegal operation. The customers are primarily beauty clinics in Bangkok and its suburbs. The employees who worked for her are from neighbouring countries.

This network operated with 5 bank accounts to avoid official scrutiny. The suspects and those detained will face a total of 7 charges under the Drugs Act, Medical Devices Act, and Cosmetics Act.
