Suchata Chuangsri, aka “Opal”, the new Miss Universe Thailand 2024, has expressed her desire to become a spokesperson raising awareness about breast cancer.

“Our power can be paid forward through our own story,” Suchata said during the final round of the pageant last night.

‘Opal for Her’ is a project established by Suchata, inspired by her personal journey as a woman who underwent breast tumour surgery at the age of 16. It aims to provide hope and guidance, especially to those facing similar challenges, she added.

She wants to empower all people, not only women, she said, adding “I want to send the power to people, not only in Thailand but around the world.”

Suchata will represent Thailand at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico later this year.

Her journey began with Miss Rattanakosin, followed by Miss Universe Thailand 2022, in which she was 3rd runner-up (later elevated to 2nd runner-up due to a contestant forfeiting her title).

This year, her dream came true as she successfully returned to claim the crown of Miss Universe Thailand.

Suchata, 20, is fluent in Thai, English and Chinese and is currently studying International Affairs at the Faculty of Political Science at Thammasat University, following the completion of her studies at Triam Udom Suksa School. She grew up in Phuket and her family runs a private business in the heart of Phuket’s old town.
