The Ministry of Public Health has been advising unvaccinated people, especially the over 60s and those afflicted by underlying diseases, to get inoculated before the Songkran holidays, during which many will meet their young relatives when they visit to receive their blessings, in accordance with tradition.

Those who have already received two doses of vaccine are also advised get a booster shot, to reduce their risk of hospitalisation or death in the event they contract COVID-19.

About 50.2 million people have received their second shots as of Monday, while more than 23 million people have been jabbed with their third.
