Thailand’s Central Administrative Court issued a ruling today (Wednesday), ordering the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and its investment arm, Krungthep Thanakom Company, to pay Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company (BTS) a total of 11.754 billion baht for the first and second extensions of the Green Line within 180 days.

The first extension is from Taksin to Wongwian Yai and Bang Wa and from On Nut to Bearing.  According to the court, the BMA and Krungthep Thanakom owed BTS 2.348 billion baht, including interest, for the period of May 2019 to May 2021.

The second extension is from Bearing to Kheha in Samut Prakan and from Mo Chit to Khu Khot in Pathum Thani province. The BMA and Krungthep Thanakom have an outstanding debt to BTS for the period of April 2017 to May 2021, amounting to 9.406 billion baht, including interest.

A representative of Krungthep Thanakom said, after the decision was announced, that the company will appeal against the court’s ruling, adding that the company’s board, chaired by Professor Tongthong Chandransu, will meet tomorrow to discuss the ruling before submitting its recommendation to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt.
