The body of 26-year old Spanish tourist, Mr. David Alejandro Rocamudi Conesa, was recovered from rocks near the Na Muang 2 Waterfall in Koh Samui of Surat Thani province on Sunday.

It took rescue workers over two hours to retrieve the body due to the difficult, rocky, steep and slippery terrain. They walked about 500ft up the path of the waterfall and had to use a rope rappel down from the cliff to reach the body, which was semi-submerged in a pond between level 2 and 3 of the waterfall.

Officials from Kho Samui Hospital, police and forensic experts were able to conduct initial examination of the body at a rest area on level 2 of the Waterfall. They found that the victim had struck his head, causing a severe skull fracture.

Mr. Conesa was believed to have accidentally fallen to his death as he became separated from a group of his friends and tried to descend the slippery path surface on Saturday.
