The Constitutional Court has designated its premises a controlled and secure zone today, in preparation for rulings in two historic cases, namely the possible dissolution of the Move Forward Party on August 7 and Srettha Thavisin’s premiership status on August 14.

The Court’s office on Chaengwattana Road is expected to be crowded with supporters of each of the parties involved.

People and vehicles wishing to enter the zone on those days will be screened and inspected by authorised officials.

The Election Commission is seeking a Court dissolution of the Move Forward Party and a ten-year political debarment of its executive committee, over the party’s election campaign to amend the lèse majesté law.

The Court is scheduled to deliver this ruling at 3pm on August 7.

In Srettha’s case, a group of former senators filed a petition in early May, alleging that his appointment of Phichit Chuenban as PM Office Minister breached the Constitution.

Chuenban was sentenced to six months in prison, without suspension, over a bribery conviction in the “snack box” scandal from over a decade ago.

The Court will make public its ruling on Srettha’s case at 3pm on August 14.
