No areas in Bangkok and its neighbouring provinces, except for Mahachai sub-district in Samut Sakhon province, have excessive amount of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere today, as most of the country, especially the northeast, is experiencing cooler weather due to a strong cold front from China.
According to the Meteorological Department, the levels of PM2.5 dust in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces, such as Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon, in the past 24 hours were measured between 12.3μg and 42.7μg, with the highest level being recorded in Mahachai sub-district.
Air quality in other parts of the country has also improved today, as PM2.5 levels are mostly below the 37.5μg threshold. The PM2.5 readings in the past 24 hours were 13.2-31.9μg in the north, 4.6-20.1μg in the northeast, 15.3-48.4μg in the central and western regions and 10.0-23.4μg in the east.
A strong cold front from China is still blanketing the north and northeast of Thailand and this is causing mercury in most of the country to fall by 1-3oC.
The lowest temperatures at 7am this morning were measured at 17-20oC in the north, 16-19oC in the northeast, 20-22oC in the central region, 21-23oC in the east, 23-24oC on the south-eastern coast, 23-26oC on the western coast and 23-24oC in and around Bangkok.
The lowest temperatures in the mountainous areas in the north range from 7-13oC and 9-14oC in the northeast.
