Paroled former PM Thaksin Shinawatra gave a political lecture, as a special speaker, at Pheu Thai party headquarters yesterday.

He lectured during a class under the Pheu Thai Party Academy, during which he told the participants, most of them Pheu Thai MPs, that he had followed their participation in the recent budget debate in parliament closely.

Thaksin praised them, urging them to practice and study more to develop their skills.

“Don’t act like a full glass of water; be open to more practice and new knowledge,” Thaksin was quoted as saying.

Among the attendees was Thaksin’s youngest daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is the leader of the Pheu Thai party.

The public learned about his lecture after his students proudly posted details of it, and their photos, on social media.

This is the second time that Thaksin has gone to the Pheu Thai headquarters since he returned from self-imposed exile last August.

Thaksin, who has been paroled on three corruption convictions, was recently indicted on charges of lèse majesté and violation of the Computer Crime Act. He was released on Bt500,000 bail.

Despite all the charges, he has never been shy of appearing in public and commenting on political issues. Indeed, he is believed by many to be behind the strategies and decisions of the Pheu Thai party.
