The Supreme Administrative Court upheld the ruling of the Central Administrative Court today, ordering the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and its investment arm, Krungthep Thanakom, to pay the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) for overdue maintenance and operating costs plus interest, estimated to total 11.755 billion baht.

BMA and Krungthep Thanakom were found guilty of breach of contract by not paying BTS for the maintenance and operating costs on the extensions to the Green Line, from Taksin to Bang Wa, from On Nut to Baring, from Mor Chit, through Saphan Mai, to Khu Khot and from Baring to Samut Prakan.

The payments are to be in two tranches; about 2.349 billion baht for the first extension and about 9.406 billion baht for the second.

The BMA and Krungthep Thanakom were ordered to make the payments within 180 days.
