The Election Commission (EC) is still unable to endorse the list of 200 new senators, because it needs more time to investigate over 1,000 complaints of electoral fraud, according to EC chairman Ittiporn Boonpracong today.
The EC had announced that it would endorse the new senators and reveal the list on July 3 at the earliest. The list will include the 100 reservists.
Ittiporn told reporters today that the EC will examine the complaints first and announce the final list accordingly. He declined to respond when asked whether the EC will be able to reveal the list next week.
Ittiporn previously revealed that officials are investigating claims that groups of candidates were booked into the same hotels. They want to know whether anybody “sponsored” their hotel accommodation.
