The Thai cabinet agreed to extend discounts on electricity of not more than 50 units and tap water not exceeding 315 baht per month for holders of welfare cards until April next year, to ease their financial burden, according to government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri.

He said that welfare card holders who use up to 50 units of electricity per month in their house will be exempted from paying any fees. If they use more than 50 units per month, their fees will be limited to 315 baht per month and, beyond this amount, they will have to pay the full amount, he added. For tap water, Anucha explained that each welfare card holder’s household will be given a monthly subsidy of 100 baht for water fees, not exceeding 315 baht per month.

For fees beyond 315 baht, each householder will bear the additional fees.
