Indonesian police are seeking cooperation from their Thai counterparts in hunting down a major Indonesian drug trafficker, who is currently believed to be in Thailand, possibly near the Myanmar border, according to Indonesian media.

Six Indonesian police officers are now in Thailand to coordinate with the Thai police in the hunt for Freddie Pratama, who is wanted by Indonesian police.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Pratama, accusing him of smuggling 10.2 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine and 11,000 ecstasy tablets into Indonesia between 2018 and 2023, according to Indonesian police. His network is alleged to have smuggled up to 500kg of illegal narcotics into Indonesia on a monthly basis, by hiding them in bags containing tea.

An Interpol Red Notice has also been issued.

Indonesian police asked their Thai counterparts to track down Pratama, after they had arrested Thai fugitive Chaowalit Thongduang, who had taken refuge in Indonesia after escaping from a hospital in Nakhon Si Thammarat in October last year.
