A Royal Command was issued on Friday by His Majesty the King endorsing the Senate’s selection of Mongkol Surasajja as the Senate Speaker and General Kriangkrai Srirak and Boonsong Noisophon as the First and Second Deputy Senate Speakers respectively.
The Royal Command was countersigned by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.
On July 23rd, Mongkol received 159 votes from the 200 senators to win the Speakership.
A ceremony was held in parliament this morning, during which the Royal Command was read by the secretary-general of the Cabinet, Natjaree Anuntasilpa, in the presence of the three appointees and senators before the King’s portrait.
Two failed candidates for the Speakership, Nanthana Nanthawaropas and Angkhana Neelapaijit were not present.
