Datuk Mohd Rabin Basir, Former director-general of the Malaysian National Security Council (MKN) has been appointed as the facilitator representing Malaysian government on the southern Thailand peace dialogue process, effective July 1.

In the press statement, Datuk Raja Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, the Director General of MKN mentions that “Having served as former Director General of the National Security Council, the Government is very confident with YBhg. Datuk Haji Mohd Rabin’s calibre to carry on with the mission and to achieve a positive and significant impact on the ongoing Southern Thailand Peace Dialogue Process.”

Raja Nushirwan also expresses his “deepest appreciation and gratitude” to YBhg. General Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Ts. Hj Zulkifli bin Hj. Zainal Abidin, the former Malaysian Government Facilitator who has completed his service on June 30.

He also adds that Zulkifli will go on to serve as the Advisor/Facilitator of the Mindanao Peace Process.
