Most Thais living in Bangkok are satisfied with the performance of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) under the leadership of Governor Chadchart Sittipunt over the past two years, according to a NIDA Poll.

The comprehensive telephone interviews covered 17 areas, ranging from the cost of living, traffic, management of homeless people and beggars, corruption, tourism, education and health care to public transport development, management of rallies and flood problems.

• The poll shows 50.25% of the respondents are satisfied with the city administration’s performance, 18.45% are very satisfied, 20.35% are not satisfied and 10.60% are very unsatisfied.

• On tourism, the poll shows 43.05% of the respondents are satisfied with the BMA’s performance, 20.15% are very satisfied, 21.30% are not satisfied and 8.20% are not satisfied at all.

• On the increase of green areas and public parks, 45.75% of the respondents are satisfied, 19.60% are very satisfied, 21.65% are not satisfied and 10.30% are not satisfied at all.

• On the improvement and use of pavements, vis-à-visvendors or motorcyclists, 46.60% of the respondents are satisfied, 19.35% are very satisfied, 21.30% are not satisfied and 11.60% are not satisfied at all.

• On sports promotion, 44.30% are satisfied, 17.50% are very satisfied, 25.40% are not satisfied and 12.15% are not satisfied at all.

• On cleanliness, air and water pollution, 44.30% are satisfied, 17.15% are very satisfied, 25.40% are not satisfied and 12.25% are not satisfied at all.

• Regarding public services provision by city officials, 43.15% of respondents are satisfied, 16.905% are very satisfied, 22.10% are not satisfied and 12.40% are not satisfied at all.

• Regarding the BMA’s work to resolve flooding, 37% are satisfied, 13.95% are very satisfied, 29.05% are not satisfied and 16% are not satisfied at all.

• Regarding public transport development, 41.10% are satisfied, 13.35% are very satisfied, 29.35% are not satisfied and 8.80% are not satisfied at all.

• Regarding health care, 41.25% are satisfied, 12.65% are very satisfied, 28.65% are not satisfied and 11% are not satisfied at all.

The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) gauged the opinions of 2,000 people living in the capital, aged at least 18, by means of telephone interviews between May 16th and 27th. The margin of error is +/-3%.
