Plung Sungkom Mai leader Chaowarit Kajornpongkirati said today (Wednesday) that his party will join a government with Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai at the core.

He confirmed that he has already accepted the invitation from both parties.

His party has no objection to the new government including parties from the outgoing government, so that the setting up of the new government can be achieved as soon as possible.

He is confident that the new government will be able to command about 260-270 House seats, Chaowarit said.

Commenting on reports that Pheu Thai’s prime ministerial candidate, Srettha Thavisin, is allegedly involved in a questionable land purchase case, which could mean that he is unable to get approval from a joint sitting of parliament, Chaowarit said that, if Srettha is not worried about the complaint, he is not either.

Plung Sungkom Mai, which won a single House seat in the general election, was one of eight parties that signed an MoU to support Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat as prime minister. Pita could not, however, command enough votes in parliament to secure the position.

Now, Pheu Thai is taking the lead in forming a government and recently announced it would join hands with Bhumjaithai. Combined, the two parties command 212 seats.
