Thailand’s students will be represented, for the first time, in the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA), under a proposal by government whips, chief whip Wirat Rattanaseth said Monday, after a meeting of a working committee to design the structure of the assembly.

According to the CDA structure, endorsed by the government whips, the assembly will consist of 200 members, including 150 to be elected by the people plus 50 to be indirectly elected, namely 10 student representatives, 10 experts in law and political science and 30 from Parliament and other resourceful people.

Coalition parties will discuss the structure of the CDA tomorrow, before their representatives meet with the whips.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives will meet in September.
