A suspect wanted by police for the murder of his 12-year-old adopted daughter “Nong Mai“ was arrested this afternoon (Tuesday) at a hotel in Bangkok’s Ram Inthra area.

The suspect, identified by police as “Yutthana”, was found in a room at the hotel in the company of a woman. Both were taken to Bang Khen police station for questioning.

According to Bang Khen district police, Yutthana is alleged to have used a baseball bat to beat the girl to death, after she reportedly stole food supplements which he was about to deliver to his customers. The incident took place at a house in Phahonyothin Soi 48 in the Bang Khen district of Bangkok on Saturday night (July 1st).

A witness, who claims to be a friend of the suspect, reportedly told the police that Yutthana called him on late Saturday night seeking to borrow a saw, a cutter and an ice box, claiming that he needed them to build a shelf.

Later, all the equipment was returned to him by the suspect, who claimed that they could not be used, said the witness, who also claims that the suspect told him that he had just killed a girl in his house. He said he didn’t believe the story, as the suspect might have been having hallucinations as a result of drug abuse. He said he found out about the murder 2 days later.

The suspect’s wife, who is a relative of the victim, reported that the girl was missing to the police yesterday. On the same day, the suspect left the house in a car, after he learned that police planned to question him.

In the meantime, police searched the house and found freshly-dug earth in the backyard of the property. They excavated the hole and found an ice box, containing the body of a girl, believed to be that of Nong Mai.

The suspect’s wife reportedly told the police that Yutthana became furious when he discovered that the girl had stolen his food supplements and used his baseball bat to beat her until she fell unconscious.
