Police arrested a man suspected of being responsible for a shooting spree at Siam Paragon that injured at least one person and sending hundreds of shoppers fleeing Thailand’s most popular shopping mall in central Bangkok this afternoon.

Photos posted on social media show a policeman kneeling over the suspect who was lying face down and a pistol on the floor nearby.

It was not immediately clear as to how many people were injured while some news outlets reported that a security guard was wounded. Witnesses said the gunman was dressed in black shirt and wore army-style trousers but it was not known whether he had any accomplices. Video clips and photos of the suspected gunman prowling the scene after the shooting which occurred at around 4 pm were also posted on the social media as the place was evacuated.

The exits toward Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery of Siam station of BTS sky-train were closed with passengers forced to use only the Siam Square exit.
