Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport has been ranked the seventh most luxurious by Travel + Leisure magazine’s website.

The airport is rated second most luxurious in ASEAN.

Top of the list is Dubai International Airport, followed by London’s Heathrow, Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, Sydney International Airport, Singapore’s Changi Airport, Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Frankfurt Airport and Japan’s Narita International Airport.

The criteria considered were their lounge facilities, designer stores and proximity to high-end hotels.

Thailand plans to increase Suvarnabhumi’s capacity to 150 million passengers annually by 2030.

A second passenger terminal, SAT-1, is already open and can accommodate 60 million passengers per year.

A third runway is scheduled to open this year, to increase the airport’s capacity to 90 flights per hour.

A fourth runway is already planned, which would boost capacity to around 120 flights per hour.
