Chemical leak in Nakhon Pathom forces schools to send students home
A number of schools in the Salaya district of Thailand’s Nakhon Pathom province were abruptly closed this morning after chemicals leaked from a plastic yarn factory.
The Pollution Control Department said that the leaks this morning actually came from two incidents. One was caused by a fire at NSP Textiles in Sam Phran district, and the other was at Indorama Polyester Industries in Nakhon Chai Si district.
Over 11,000 hectares of farmland in Buri Ram affected by floods
Heavy rainfall in Thailand’s north-eastern province of Buri Ram has flooded about 11,360 hectares of farmland. The continuous rainfall affected 10 districts in the province, with four of them declared flood disaster zones.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecasts that the north-eastern region will continue to experience heavy rain for the next five days, which could lead to flooding in several provinces.
Fake lubricant worth over 1 million baht seized by Thai police
Police have seized fake lubricating oil, worth over a million baht, from a warehouse in Chaloem Phra Kiat district of Thailand’s central province of Saraburi.
The owner of the fake lubricant will face charges of producing fake lubricating oil for sale and engaging in a business which can pose health hazards without a license.
Miss Grand Myanmar 2020 denied entry to Thailand
On her arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, Miss Grand Myanmar 2020 Han Lay was denied entry to Thailand by immigration officials for not having a passport.
It was revealed that the junta in Myanmar had revoked her passport, believed to be in retaliation for a speech she made about the situation in the country during the Miss Grand International pageant held in Bangkok in March last year.
