COVID-19 infections in Bangkok continue to surge, with 1,032 new cases out of a total of 3,129 recorded nationwide today (Thursday). 30 more deaths were also recorded, according to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
According to CCSA Assistant Spokeswoman Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan, a new cluster was discovered at the Nava Supply School of the Royal Thai Navy, in Bang Na district of Bangkok, with 37 infections being reported to date.
Two new clusters were also found in Samut Prakan province. The first is at a furniture factory in Muang district, where 154 people were infected and the second is at a garment factory in Phra Pradaeng district. Another new cluster was also reported at a seafood processing plant in Chon Buri province, where 23 people have tested positive for the disease so far.
Cumulative infections, since April 1st, 2021, are 178,861, with 33,853 under treatment in general and field hospitals, including 1,313 severe cases, of whom 376 are on ventilators. The death toll, since April 1st, is 1,461.
Of the 30 deaths today, 18 are men and 12 women, aged from 38 to 89. Bangkok accounts for 22, there were 3 deaths in Phetchaburi and 1 each in Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Udon Thani, Sa Kaeo and Narathiwat.
In addition to the new infections in the capital, Samut Prakan reported 390 cases, Samut Sakhon, 171 cases, Nakhon Pathom, 130 cases, Nonthaburi, 105 cases, Chon Buri, 75 cases, Pathum Thani, 71 cases, Narathiwat, 67 cases, Pattani, 58 cases and Ayutthaya, 43 cases.
