The National Health Security Office (NHSO) plans to distribute 94.5 million condoms, free of charge, to gold health card holders of “reproductive age”, starting on February 1st at health service units, primary health service units and community clinics.

NHSO Secretary-General Jadej Thammatacharee said that the card holders must register via the “Pao Tang” app, so that they can receive ten condoms per week, free of charge, for 52 weeks.

Vending machines dispensing free condoms will be installed in Pattaya and card holders can get the condoms fromFebruary 14th, which coincides with the Valentine’s Day.

Dr. Jadej said that free access to condoms for gold card holders is a basic right under the national health security system, adding that people infected with AIDS or HIV are still eligible for free condoms.

The condoms are procured and distributed by the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation.
