Three shop-houses in Bangkok’s Nong Khaem district were razed by fire before dawn today (Sunday). There were no casualties.

Emergency services rushed to Sunthorn Soi 5, off the Bang Bon 3 road in Nong Khaem district, at about 5.30am this morning.

When they arrived on the scene, fire had already engulfed three four-storey shop-houses, one of which housed a small factory producing candles which stored many flammable materials. Firemen had to use chemicals to douse the blaze.

A member of the emergency services said that, during the fire, they heard the periodic sound of walls cracking, raising concerns that the buildings might collapse.

The fire had been brought under control by about 7am, but all the properties were already in total ruins.

Nong Khaem police and a forensic team will attempt to determine the cause of the fire today.
