V8 Intertrading, the company which offered the highest bid in the auction of 15,000 tonnes of the 10-year-old pledging scheme rice, is likely to be disqualified after an investigative committee discovered some irregularities in the firm’s profile.

V8 Intertrading also failed to conclude the rice deal with the Public Warehouse Organisation (PWO) by the deadline of July 5th, after it was postponed from July 2nd. The company offered 19,073 baht/tonne for the rice, which would have meant 286 million baht in revenue to the state.

Informed sources say that the PWO will now invite the second highest bidder, Tanasarn Rice, which offered 18,019.11 baht/tonne, for negotiations.

Seven companies passed the qualification screening, but only six submitted sealed bids in the auction, which took place on June 17th.
